How to read the Withings BPM Connect display

BPM Connect has an LED matrix screen built into the cuff unit. It shows 'BP' (or 'BP x3' for three consecutive measurements) when you switch it on, then displays your systolic and diastolic blood pressure and heart rate at the end of the measurement with colour-coded LED feedback, before asking you to validate and assign the reading to a user.

What the screen shows, top to bottom

  1. Systolic blood pressure
  2. Diastolic blood pressure
  3. Heart rate
  4. A colour-coded LED indicator alongside the result, then the user name (or GUEST) to assign it to

Stored readings and averages

Readings sync via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth to the Withings app, where the history is stored; the device itself holds only a handful of measurements (Withings currently lists up to 8) between synchronisations. There is no on-screen memory browsing - to review earlier readings you use the app.

How to take a reading you can trust

  • Sit with your back supported and feet flat, and rest for five minutes before you start.
  • Cuff at heart level on bare skin, arm resting on a table — the same arm every time.
  • Take two readings a minute apart and write both down; don't pick the one you prefer.
  • Note the time and anything unusual — before or after medication, feeling unwell — next to the numbers.

Photographing this display for a scan

  • Photograph the result as soon as it appears and before you press the button to validate it - validating moves on to user selection.
  • The LED matrix is bright on a dark background: tap to focus on the digits and let the phone lower the exposure so the lit dots don't bloom.
  • LED displays can show partial digits in a fast photo; take two shots a second apart and keep the one where every segment is complete.
  • Keep the cuff on your arm resting on the table while you shoot; the screen faces you when the tube runs along your inner arm as Withings recommends.

Do I need my phone to read a BPM Connect result?

No. The result appears on the device's own LED screen at the end of the measurement, and Withings notes you don't need your smartphone to start the device, run a measurement or sync it over Wi-Fi. Write down or photograph the systolic, diastolic and heart-rate values before pressing the button to validate, because the screen then moves on to user selection and the device holds only a few readings until it syncs.

How do I log a BP x3 measurement?

Record it as an average and say so. In BP x3 mode the device takes three measurements in a row and Withings' app shows only their average in its Home tab, so an entry like '124/79, pulse 68 (avg of 3)' keeps your log honest when you compare it with single readings. Monitor2Log lets you photograph the LED display or your paper log and check every number before saving, and you can add the 'average' note there.

What happens if I assign a reading to the wrong user or to GUEST?

The measurement is still taken and shown, but it lands in the wrong account or, for GUEST, is not saved to anyone's history. Withings' articles describe pressing the button to cycle through names and holding it to assign. If that happens, note the reading manually with the date and time so your own record stays complete, and correct or delete the entry in the app if needed.

Brand and model names belong to their owners; Monitor2Log is not affiliated with or endorsed by any manufacturer. Checked against manufacturer documentation on 2026-09-05. If your unit differs, the manual wins.
